One of the biggest challenges of healthy eating for me has always been how to consume enough and varied green vegetables. The biggest problem of course, being that they aren’t meat or chocolate, and so I don’t like the taste of them.
So here’s how I cheat the system: Green Shakes. (A.K.A. Green Smoothies, Kale Shakes.) All that’s required is a half decent blender and the type of food you’ve known your whole life that you should be eating, but never really got around to doing regularly.
Here’s my recipe:
-4 stalks Kale (I use two different types of Kale, because I’m fancy.)
-2 stalks Swiss Chard
-1 handful of baby Spinach
-1 small Cucumber
-1 handful Blueberries
-1 handful Strawberries
-2 Tablespoons MCT Oil/Coconut Oil
-add water to desired consistency
It tastes just good enough to be choked down without too much complaint, and I feel absolutely wonderful after. Other common ingredients can include ginger, garlic, apples, bananas, celery, carrots, protein powder, fish oil, peanut butter, local honey, etc. Have fun with it. Sweeten to taste with stevia. Just get some green vegetables in your body on a regular basis.
